In these wine cups, kinrande (gold and polychrome overglaze decoration) is applied on a gleaming white porcelain base. The cups’ designs are modeled after the ko-Imari (old-Imari) ware that fascinated European royalty and aristocracy during the 17th century. In recognition of their elegant and refined design, these wine cups won the Grand Prix at the Japanese Souvenir Contest 2010, organized by the Tourism Agency, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. They also received the Gold Prize in the Luxury Japan Category at the same contest. Exceptionally charming gifts from Japan, these wine cups enjoy high acclaim around the world.
